Huh?!

I'll bet you don't see this every day. I wonder whose life would suck more...the cow for falling on a car, or a human trapped in his car under a cow? Yep, I agree...it would suck for both!

Everything is Relative

Sorry for the confusion. I am reading this book right now and it has got me thinking. Let me put the definition of what moral relativism is exactly. It is a way of looking at the world that says what is right or wrong for you depends on what you think is morally right or wrong. In other words, everything is relative. Now, apply this definition to the questions posed in my last post.

Moral Relativism?!

Here is another random question for ya: Can you be a moral relativist and a Christian at the same time? And is moral relativism an effective way to minister in the church as a whole? Shoot me some comments...I will give my opinion in my next post but I want to hear from the masses first.

A Collision

Emily was telling me how awesome the new David Crowder Cd was so I had to go out and buy it. David Crowder is such an amazing musician. He is so innovative it is scary. I think he is the only man that can be outside of the genre of blugrass, perform a blugrass song, and get away with it. AND...have you slapping your knee to the song wishing the whole time you had a whiskey jug to blow a tune into. Yes...I love it and am thouroughly enjoying it! Thanks Em for the insight.

Quote to Think About...

I read this the other day and it just made me think.

"Whenever I meet a Buddhist leader, I meet a holy man. Whenever I meet a Christian leader, I meet a good manager."

Don't get me wrong. I am not against managers or good management. I have been learning alot about this lately. But management alone is not enough to fulfill the calling that God has placed on our lives, let alone enough to inspire the people we lead. It goes deeper and far beyond being able to manage people and programs. I am learning to allow God to manage ME so that I can effectively manage others. This can be a tedious process seeing as how thick headed and stubborn I can be at times.

Are we managers with Christian jargon added to our job descriptions or are we leading the way Crist led? I had to ask myself this question...and I really didn't like my answer. I love when God leads me to an answer..even if He has to shake me a bit to get me to see the big picture.

The Rest of the Story...

I told you I would get some more info about the last post...well, here it is!

Metrosexual or Ubersexual? How to Spot the Difference

* Both are passionate, but the uber is passionate about causes and
principles, while the metro is mostly passionate about himself

* The uber spends more time grooming his mind than his hair

* Both treat and respect women as equals, but the uber considers other
men, not women, his best friends

* The uber is more sensual and not at all self-conscious; he doesn't need
other people to tell him he's sexy -- nor does he plan his errands
around which shop windows offer the best reflection

* The metro gets design tips from the Fab Five; the uber gets them from
his travels and interest in art and culture

* The uber knows the difference between right and wrong and will make the
right decision regardless of what others around him may think; the metro
knows the difference between toner and exfoliant -- and worries that
he's using yesterday's brand

Hmm, very interesting...

Uber Sexual!?

From what I hear there is a new phrase going around. It's called uber sexual. Yes, you heard me right. It is kind of like meterosexual but a bit different. This fascinates me. Why can't we just be men? Women are always trying to label us, placing tags on us like at the GAP or something. "Oh honey, you don't want him...he's pyrosexual." "PYROSEXUAL!? What does that mean?" "Oh, that means that he doesn't feel fulfilled unless he's blowing stuff up. If you want to date him, you need to take a firearms course and learn how to detonate C4 before he'll even bother with you." That's not true, guys just like to see things explode!

I might be blowing this way out of proportion but it just kind of scares me as to what's next. MEN, we are being blindsided and the women are out to suck us into this whole categorizing thing. Don't fall for it...IT'S A TRAP! They will get you to believe that you are something you're not and pretty soon you will be wearing pink shirts and oversized belt buckles. They have already gotten to a couple of our close friends. Don't let it happen to you!

We as men are simple creatures. If you start messing with our psyche you will disrupt the fragile balance of our existance. This is dangerous! I will fill you in on another post to find out if you will be targeted as an ubersexual and how to avoid it. And to those of our comrades that have fallen to these tags, backup is on the way.

Man in Uniform!

Lima company is home! It was so awesome seeing my friend James home safe. I couldn't imagine all that he has seen and felt. I was thinking how differently people will look at him. We went out to lunch Sunday and a women left a card on the table labled only "To a Marine". It was a gift certificate and it said "from a grateful citizen" I think. How cool is that! His eyes have seen war firsthand. That is something not very many of us can say. Even as a veteran of a foreign war, I feel almost ashamed to have the ribbon that I wore to show that. I never saw battle...not even close. I was just enlisted during the Gulf War. My friend has been there, lived it and came back with a different outlook on life. I have so much respect and appreciation for what he has done.

My daughter Eve was blown away with him when she saw him in uniform Sunday morning. She kept hiding behind Jen and commenting on him when he would walk by. She would say "Mommy, there goes the man in the suit again." She was also commenting on how shiny his shoes were. When Jennifer asked Evie if she would like him to come over, she just giggled and got this big smile on her face. I have never seen her react to an adult like that before. She was really taken by him in uniform. It was so cute!

Words cannot express how proud I am of James and what he has done for our country.

Are We There Yet?

Here is a question for ya: When exactly does the post modern church become the church of yesterday?

Me Likey!

Nokia is really pushing the envelope here. I think this is stuff that I used to see on Bond movies. Now the everyday Joe Shmoe can think he is an operative for the CIA. How cool is that! I can see it now...Yuppies all over the world peering around making sure no one sees that they are getting ready to send a text message on their new wrist phone. I think this is definately a meterosexual thing. I'm sure that they will launch with lime green and pink as their primary colors. But you have to admit...they sure are cool. I want to be a spy...I want to be a spy. That's what I think of when I see these things.

Biking and Shrooms!

Jennifer and I took Eve and Carli on a bike ride Saturday. We rode to Yellow Springs and back. Man, that was quite a ride. It was such an awesome day though and we wanted to take advantage of the great weather.

While we were on our bike ride Saturday, we saw some puff ball mushrooms so we went back today and picked some. Jennifer found the biggest mushroom I have ever seen in my life...and yes, it's edible. This thing could feed a whole flock of people. Anyone for mushroom soup?
